THE BASIC ROLES CONTINUED..........

I believe you had a good week,last week, i introduced the topic,community pharmacies, the basic roles,
this week is just a continuation.
to introduce this weeks few cents ideas, i want to share with you, a story ' my friend Mr. Patel called me last week to his shop he recently bought on Kimathi street.On the phone, he sounded very desperate for a meeting with me, i tried to sound as busy as possible to let him know that my hands are full and if he wanted to my help behind the counter, i will not be available.
so, the Monday morning, after dropping my son to school, i headed to town.and to his office, alas!!! very surprised, because i had a million invites to his shop last year, and honoured none of them,needless to say, our meeting was brief but very thought provoking.last week i said, the pharmacy owners have their reasons well calculated before opening shop.The main being MONEY. many occasions have had to quit job, because, our ideas do not marry.!!!!
 In many sentences, Mr. Patel, was telling me how he needed to increase the sales in the pharmacy and how
he is not satisfied with the service his worker's are rendering his clients and blah blah...my mind kept thinking, if i worked into a pharmacy is because i had a prescription; that needs to be serviced, but if i didn't have one..
then i probable need advise on an ailment. Again, i shouldn't expect to get medicated!!!!every journey to a pharmacy should not bring you a packet of pills, there are lots of home remedies that are free and very safe.

unless you want to make the many shops around make obscene profits , go ahead and accept that pill at your peril.
i mean it, DO NOT BUY , UNLESS THE CONDITION IS ACUTE. And only  to alleviate the symptoms then see a Doctor.remember, its all about profits.

next time you visit a pharmacy,do not get confused with my smile , be conscious of your health.

Community Pharmacies; The basic roles.

What i know for sure, is we are all familiar with a pharmacy,what i know for sure too, is the vague role they play in our health,what i do know too is the the basic role  the owner's create it to do.(investor's).-money minting machines.

i really love the way, we all seem to know it all, whenever we walk into one. i know this , because in my practise,
i happen to be the lady behind the counter on the areas written boldly-PRESCRIPTION.Wow!!afew occasions is the resigned face that says i need help, on many instances, its serve me fast, need to hit the road.

the purpose of this writtings is for you(reader) to begin to understand the background of the the proffesional serving you;
In compliance to the vision of the community pharmacy section of FIP, a community pharmacist will –
1) be an expert in pharmaceutical care, pharmacotherapy and health promotion.
2) be a professional communicator to patients, other healthcare providers and decision makers.
3) deliver good quality in product, services and communication.
4) documents his actions, makes descriptions & publications.
